Yep, you read that right: Michael Hemmingson, whose story "Daddy" appears in February's Hobart, has written the concept and screenplay for a movie called The Watermelon, which he also produced. Brad Mays directs the cast, which includes Kiersten Morgan, Elyse Ashton, Julia Asks and Steve Man.
If you're wondering, The Watermelon is a diminutive travel trailer, which has been painted to look like the wedge of fruit. Inherited by a world weary 30-something male, it brings a host of strange people and experiences into his life, even as he tries to get rid of it. Dig the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDimaB95fK0
Check out Hemmingson's blog here: http://www.hemmingsonhollywood.blogspot.com/ He is highly prolific, having published--in the current running total--44 books.
Happy reading!

Thanks for the plug!
Actyally...Steve Man is not in the movie, replaced by Will Beinbrink...
My big budget family comedy, MOMMY vs. THE EVIL BANK ROBBERS, should start shooting this summer. It has some A-list actors in it. What can I say, I am always ready to sell out. ;)
