The new issue of Mississippi Review online is now live and it is a pretty great issue. The theme is "the Literary Magazine at 100" and the issue is, as they say, "a snapshot of the current moment in literary magazine history—a history of the present, in theory and practice." And a pretty great snapshot it is, and one that we were lucky enough to be included in. The issue is a bit of a sneak peek at what will be the full Fall 2008 print issue, and includes an excerpt of a roundtable discussion of literary journal editors (including yours truly!) and a new story by Catherine Zeidler, as an example of "a new writer they (Hobart) have recently published whose work they find particularly compelling—a writer they feel we should pay special attention to in the years (and issues) to come.
