Matt DeBenedictis

I will always have a soft spot for the film (I engulfed that first) thanks to my mother. For some reason she gave me that to watch. I was a new teenager, odd skin and odd thoughts, and bored as all get out at large family gatherings. My mom put the VHS in of Catch-22 and told me I'd enjoy it. Sometimes I think she didn't know what she putting in the vcr player as my mom's ultra-conservative feelings would normally call such a viewing for a child bad parenting, but something about the movie kept me staring at that old wooden TV in the basement. The tension, the jokes, the sick irony I had no way to relate to yet; it just all made sense to me.

After that I watched Being There with Peter Sellers.
